Identification of Hydraulic Parameters Influencing the Hydraulic Erodibility of Spillway Flow Channels

The rock mass erosion of dam spillways, a phenomenon involving the interaction between hydraulic load water and capability to resist its destruction, remains critical safety issue. resistance can be estimated through several erodibility indices, including those Kirsten, Pells or Bollaert. Several indices have been developed link parameters water, i.e., applied on mass. use average flow velocity, shear stress bottom channel, internal joints fractured mass, dynamic impulse force, power dissipation represent erosive force water. From these methods assessing developed, all threshold line concept. Nonetheless, uncertainties are associated with methods. This paper presents discusses various means calculating as hazard parameter for predicting potential erosion. representativeness approaches is also discussed, we clarify nuances each method. We then provide guidelines future research aimed at improving estimates within spillway channels.
